Doors have an inherent weak spot: the strike plate, most typically a simple flat piece of thin metal plate, with two screws attached flush in a door jamb. In a forced entry situation, the strike plate is the first thing to be compromised. Even the strongest door is limited to the strength (or lack of strength) of the strike plate configuration. In this way the strike plate is recognized as the weak link in the chain of door security.
1,300,000: approximate annual US residential break-ins through exterior doors. This number has remained historically consistent. $2,000: average dollar loss amount from residential burglaries. 17%: The percentage of US households with burglar alarms.
12 minutes: the difference between the US average of 22 minutes combined alarm/police response time, and the average 10 minutes burglars spend inside your home. 83%: percentage of US households with no security alarms, who are left to rely solely on the physical strength of entry points to keep criminals out.
STRIKER BOX changes the physics of door security. It doesn’t just bypass the door jamb and attach to the studs in the wall; it increases security by hardening the components and reducing exposure to twisting. STRIKER BOX uses an embedded, heavy duty 14 gauge 2-part steel box, cut into the door jamb, and fixed to the wall stud by five 3” wood screws in perpendicular planes all stabilized by steel stabilizer screws. It looks just like a conventional strike plate, but underneath, it is rock solid to the wall. It wouldn’t be much harder for a bad guy to kick through the wall as it would be to kick his way through a door with a STRIKER BOX installed. This novel approach to the ultimate in door security is the recipient of two US Patents.
OBSTRUCTS THE FORCED ENTRIES OF EXTERIOR DOORS
IS EASILY INSTALLED, HAS A CONVENTIONAL APPEARANCE, AND IS AFFORDABLY PRICED
WORKS FOR BOTH DOOR HANDLE AND DEADBOLT LATCHES
IS ENGINEERED BEYOND THE HIGHEST INDUSTRY STANDARDS (ASTM) FOR DOOR IMPACT RESISTANCE
ACTS AS A DETERRENT; CRIME RESEARCH SHOWS WHEN THIEVES CANNOT QUICKLY GAIN ACCESS TO A PROPERTY, THEY WILL ABANDON THEIR EFFORT AND MOVE ON TO ANOTHER TARGET
GIVES YOUR FAMILY AND PROPERTY THE PROTECTION IT DESERVES, AND PROVIDES PIECE OF MIND THAT COMES IN KNOWING YOUR DOOR HAS BEEN HARDENED AGAINST FORCED ENTRIES
When properly installed into the door frame with a deadbolt and a common medium security external steel door with other typically found common hardware, STRIKER BOX will increase that door’s impact resistance beyond the highest established ASTM Industry rating of Security Grade 40. Security Grade 40 means that the door, lock and strike combination holds up to four successive levels (of two strikes per level) from a 99 lb. lead-filled battering ram:
Grade 10 - 2 blows of 148 ft. lbs., followed by
Grade 20 - 2 blows at 269 ft. lbs. followed successively by
Grade 30 - 2 blows of 408 ft. lbs., followed by
Grade 40 - 2 blows of 561 ft. lbs
After all that punishment from 8 successive and very powerful blows, STRIKER BOX holds fast, preventing entry, and even enduring one final successive blow of 722 ft. lbs.! Don’t believe us? Write for our third party engineering report.
FINALLY, of all the external steel doors we have destroyed in our testing, we have never seen a STRIKER BOX compromised; it has always been the door itself that finally splits and fails in these tests.
See how Striker Box enables a common medium security exterior door to withstand repeated blows from a lead battering ram at up to over 700 foot pounds of force!
